Balayage for curly hair can sometimes get lost and In order to see a brighter end result, you will want to add in depth, along with the highlight.
In this YouTube video, I share a technique on how to make balayage stand out and look brighter. Whether they wear their hair straight or curly, using this technique will allow your highlights to look brighter and won’t get lost in the curl.
I used a combination of open air balayage and demi-permanant hair color to add in some depth. Her demi formula was very similar to her natural color, however it richened up her color and will still be low maintenance since she won’t have a line of demarcation as it grows out.
Some tips are:
- Add in depth! Adding a darker background will give the illusion of brighter highlights.
- Use large sections. The smaller the sections, the less likely you will see your highlight.
- Consider working vertically. I used triangular sections for my models hair giving the illusion of length.
