30 Pregnancy Challenge – Day 1

You guys!! Since I had an overwhelming amount of responses to my pregnancy post on Instagram, I found there is a need to speak more openly about what we go through as women (pregnancy, miscarriage, body image, etc.). So I decided to do a 30 day pregnancy challenge. SO WHAT EXACTLY DOES THAT MEAN? Well, I am going to go live daily on YOUTUBE ONLY between September 1st-30th. I’m going to update you on on different topics such as being on the road, my struggles, my wins, and just really anything you guys want to talk about. I may even sprinkle some of my favorite go to beauty products, who knows!? My goal is to create more dialogue with you all, especially since so many of you expressed your own struggles with pregnancy and I genuinely would love to get to know all of you more too…

Career Reflection at the Airport

I was standing in line waiting to board my plane (like I do most days) and had a moment of reflection.  Reflection of my career.  If I had a typical schedule it would be, fly out Sunday to my destination and Wednesday come home.  Nothing is typical though, when it comes to travel.  There are always delays, plane changes, last minute cancellations, or last minute visits that need to be planned.  So being an educator means lots of change, frequently.  You need to like change, or at least I do. Now this doesn’t mean that I am not a planner.  Because I am a major planner!  I am always updating my calendar, making phone calls to confirm everything, and I make sure I have all the details before I arrive anywhere.  As a matter of fact, I ask tons of questions because I like to be as prepared…

Guy Tang #Mydentity

Another trip to California’s Central Valley not only means seeing cute cows and smelling cow poop, but it means I get to play with new colors on my colleagues hair.  In this blog I’m going to walk you through my first time using Guy Tang’s #Mydentity and of course sprinkled with a little Kenra Color. Carla and I go to Bakersfield, CA about once every 3 months, mainly to do education and spread the Kenra love.  Aside from visiting fun salons and the cool sight seeing that the Central Valley has to offer, we always plan on retouching her hair after a long day in the field.  I like to call this #hotelhair because, you know?  We do her hair in the hotel bathroom like any other professional stylist on the road.  HA! Here is Carla’s before shot.  Excuse the lighting, because…

Second Day Curly Hair

Let’s face it.  Curly girls wake up in the morning with crazy looking hair.  We sleep on it, smash it, probably drool a little on it.  It’s ok.   I got some solutions for you! I got such an overwhelming amount of you who really loved my CURLY HAIR DON’T CARE TUTORIAL, but you wanted to know how I style my hair second, third, or fourth day.  So here are a few things I do in between my weekly washes followed by a 60 second video of #3.  Which one I choose over the other really depends on my mood that day. I lightly re-wet my hair during my morning shower.  Or you can always use a spray bottle with water; that works too.  This helps reshape my curls and reactivates my product that’s already in my hair.  Sometimes I use my…

Curly Hair Don’t Care

I get lots of questions about how I take care of my curls, especially since I change colors frequently.  The obvious is washing my hair about once a week with cool water and a deep moisturizing mask.  Aside from the usual weekly treatment, I thought why not show the process of how I style it on “hair washing day”.  Down below are the products I love to use on my curls followed by a 60 second video of it all.  I hope you enjoy! Step 1:  A generous amount of Kenra Curl Styling Conditioner.  Words cannot describe how much I love this stuff!  It’s moisturizing, detangling, and most of all its a leave in styler.  You can use it in the shower and before styling your hair which makes this an awesome product because of it’s versatility.  I usually use the Curl Styling Conditioner…

Social Media 2017 Planning

Gah!  Here we go again…  Another year goes by and we are making resolutions.  But I HATE resolutions.  Why do we only make them once a year, at the end of the year, just so we cannot follow through with them by the end of January?  I refuse to make resolutions.  A resolution to me means regret.  Regret on the choices you have made this last year and you feel bad about them.  SO WHAT you gained some weight this year!  Your telling me you regret eating all that chocolate (for me it would be chips and beer!) so now you are not going to eat any at all and go to the gym every day?  Who are you kidding?! Now I’m not saying going to the gym everyday is bad or eating chocolate is bad.  What I’m saying is that you should never regret…

Goodbye 2016!

I’m sitting here in my brand new kitchen with my cute teal door and I can’t believe another year went by.  Where did all the time go?  I can’t help but think of all of the accomplishments I’ve made both in my personal and career life.  I successfully remodeled most of my house, both kids did not suffer broken bones, and my social media pages are growing.  2016 has been great! I’m that kind of person that is always thinking “WHAT’S NEXT?” and I never truly stop to smell the roses.  Like most creative-thinking beings, we go through many highs and lows.  Recently, I was feeling rather frustrated about my skills.  What I hadn’t started or finished.  For example, I never finished 2 videos for my vlog that should have been done 2…

My life as a working mom

My life as a working mom and it’s been awhile. As show season comes to an end, I finally have some time to myself to write on this damn thing!  My life has been consumed by airplane travel, suitcases, mannequin heads, and lots of teaching.  Not that I don’t like any of it but I like it in smaller doses.  Week after week, I have jumped from one plane to another, living out of my suitcase.  Which is cool and all, but I do have kids and a family.  I miss them. Today completes my 7 days straight of being away from home and I can’t tell you how amazing it was to sleep in my bed, on my pillows, in my blanket, next to my snoring husband.  That’s right!  My husband snores and I actually missed it!  I had a moment…

No matter how long you have been doing hair…

This past week I spent my time training at the Kenra Professional studio in down town Indianapolis, Indiana.  If you ever get a chance to go to Indiana, it’s a small city with a big city feel.  The Kenra Professional studio is on East Washington Street, not far from Monument Circle.  There you can find the Soldiers and Sailors Monument that has been there since 1889 and lots of awesome restaurants to eat at.  Just like every city, it has it’s own culture and feel.  I love the feeling I get when I go to Indy, especially coming from the land of concrete and palm trees (California). Every few months, all of the Regional Education Managers from across the country meet at the studio in Indy.  Not only do the 8 of us have a great time bonding over funny education stories, hair, and food (we…
